WHO beslut om Folkhälsa

En glädjande nyhet för folkhälsoarbetet.
WHO:s generalförsamling antog den 22 maj en resolution i anslutning till Marmot-kommissionens arbete som jag har skrivit om tidigare.

Det innebär i princip att Sverige omfattar målsättningen att utjämna hälsoskillnaderna inom en generation, både de globala och de inom Sverige (båda skillnaderna ökar sedan drygt två decennier).

Nu gäller det att Sverige agerar för att leva upp till denna viktiga milstolpe i arbetet för att minska sociala skillnader i ohälsa. Eftersom man talar om skillnader inom länder såväl som skillnader mellan länder är konsekvenserna av det nya synsättet långtgående –

Det borde bli en injektion för en mer rättvis ordning, i Sverige, Europa och globalt.

World Health Assembly urges member states:
- to tackle the health inequities within and across countries through political commitment
on the main principles of "closing the gap in a generation" as a national concern,
- to develop and implement goals and strategies to improve public health with a focus on
health inequities;
- monitor and measure the health of national populations, with
disaggregated data such as age, gender, ethnicity, race, caste, occupation, education, income and
employment where national law and context permits so that health inequities can be detected
and the impact of policies on health equity measured

Det antogs också resolution om klimatförändringar och hälsa.
"The resolution included a work plan to scale up WHO's technical assistance to countries to assess and address the implications of climate change for health and health systems".
